Royal Fashion

The last few weeks have been a non-stop ride on the Royal Wedding train. While I admittedly do not care much about the actual nuptials of William and Kate, I do care about who and what they and their guests were wearing on this eventful day. As any true fashionista will admit, we take joy in seeing and picking apart the clothes others wear. We are super critical of the style, fit and color of the outfit, and often times spend countless hours trying to replicate what we see.

Okay, back to the wedding. Kate looked absolutely gorgeous in her Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton, creative director at Alexander McQueen. If you did not know, it is tradition for the bride to have her arms and shoulders covered when marrying in the church, and Sarah Burton did an excellent job with the lace sleeves. Not to be completely boring, Burton provided an elegant, yet sexy, plunging neckline, which added just the right amount of youth and spiciness you would expect for a 29 year-old bride.

Sister and Maid of Honor, Pippa Middleton, wore a simple white gown, also designed by Sarah Burton, with a deep neckline and buttons down the back.

As for the guests, most wore simple dresses and suits with minimal jewelry. The real spectacle came from the headpieces. I don't know about you, but I am on my way to purchase a headpiece or two to add to my collection of fabulousness!! The British certainly know how to make a hat!

British designers Jess Collett and Philip Treacy created most of the headpieces worn today.

A Little Texture and Color for Tuesday

I spent the good part of my Monday in a black tank and stretch pants. Relax, I only left my place to pick up my children from the bus stop. I just wasn't feeling it yesterday. Today, however, is a different story. I cannot let the Man Piece come home to me looking a hot mess. So here is what I am wearing...

 Nine West

Aren't they beautiful?! Texture and color are important aspects to any woman's 2011 shoe collection.

Pictures are courtesy of my 7 year old, JaDay; she's awesome!

My 9 month old loves them too!

What Do You Have on Your Feet? Submitted by Siobhan B.

The days of the horrible dyed satin shoes for brides are long gone! Here is a little wedding day fabulousness sent in by Siobhan B.

Siobhan rocked a knee length white wedding dress with a hot pair of red peep toe heels by Steve Madden, and her maid of honor also wore a red shoe with her black dress; all in honor of Valentine's Day. Check it out...

You have to be daring to take a step away from the traditional boring pump on your wedding day, and she did a great job with this shoe!

Keep sending your photos to ShoeMonsterWithSole@gmail.com and I will post them within 72 hours.

Neiman Marcus Last Call: 40% off Jewelry Sale Until April 27th 8 a.m.

While I still believe the most important part of any outfit are the shoes, accessories can make you stand out in a crowd. Rachel Zoe said something to the effect of "the more accessories, the better."

*Total side note...I love her obsession with all things fashion. Everything is "MAJOR" with her. Love, love, love her!*

My last adventure in Neiman Marcus was focused on the shoe section, but I did see a beautiful gold, chunky link chain as I ran to the register. Now that it is another 40% off, I must have it! Just in case you haven't already noticed, I am a sale girl! Very rarely will I purchase anything full price. Am I cheap? Absolutely not! But I am all about saving when and where I can, and you should be too!
Here are a few pieces I found on their site that are hot:

Prada: Spring/Summer 2011 Runway Wedges

Okay, I MUST have the wedges (all of them) from the Prada Spring/Summer 2011 collection. I just viewed the show on Prada.com for the 1 millionth time and I feel so incomplete without these shoes. Here are a few pictures...

Do you see the attention to detail and the height of the wedge?! These wedges are perfect for those of us who are vertically challenged, as I stand only 5'5 tall, and need all of the help I can get! I am officially on the hunt; Atlanta watch out!

Hey shoe lovers! I know I've been M.I.A the last few days with updates on all things shoes, but for good reason. I was preparing for a photo shoot in Atlanta! A good friend of mine, the owner and photog of FMG Photography, shot some beautiful pictures that I will be using to update the look of the blog. Here is one of the shots in my new Versace peep toe pumps...

Please keep in mind that I am not a model and I am sensitive about my ish! (total Erykah Badu moment) Feel free to smile!

I will be posting new fabulous shoe finds, boutiques and sales in the coming days.

My Neiman Marcus: Last Call Adventure...

What a morning! First off, let me start by telling you that my 8 1/2 month old was absolutely fabulous today! He let me shop and shoe watch without so much as a peep! He knows when Mommy needs to focus; and focus I did.

So, the sales person from Sunday told me the sale would begin at 9 a.m. today and to try and arrive around that time to ensure the best shoe selection. What did I do? I went to take care of my cell phone first and arrived at Neiman Marcus at 9:50. The parking lot was packed! I grabbed my son out of his car seat and hustled him into the stroller, all while sprinting in my heels. You would think I was competing in the Olympics! This is what I saw when I arrived...

Please keep in mind that I was taking these photos on the low. Women were everywhere with boxes stacked in their arms, and sales people were restocking the shelves as fast as they could with abandoned shoes. By the time I got to the shelves, all of the Loubotin, Chanel, Gucci, Versace, Lanvin and Prada were gone. There were quite a few Manolo Blahniks left, but I suspect that Neimans usually keeps Manolos on the shelves and the ladies were going after the harder to find designers.

Patience and my finely tuned shoe stalking skills paid off. Here is what I found...

Here is what I bought...

 VERSACE

You are probably asking yourselves, "Only One Pair?" I know!! But I had to behave myself or my credit card bill would have been insane! The Louboutins above were a VERY strong contender; I actually have them on hold. The leopard print lace up just does something to me. What do you guys think? Are they a BUY?

There were many other shoes I saw flying by me as the sales associates took them to the registers for all of the other shoe addicts. My strategy was to hang out in the section that carried shoes my size, and wait for the sales associates to restock the shelves with shoes the other customers changed their minds on. That is how I grabbed the Versace pair above! I told you I was a professional show stalker! All in all I had a great experience. Next time I will be there before the doors open...seriously!

*Here is a VERY BIG thank you to Val, a sales person at Neimans in Lawrenceville, Ga. She was absolutely amazing with assisting in finding shoes my size and style. Thank you, girl!*
